EXHIBITION OF A WORK IN PROGRESS – FILM ARCHIVES ARCHITECTURE
In this project I use architecture as a starting point for a visual story about film archives in Europe.
With film archives being key instruments of collection and preservation, thus functioning as our collective memory repository, their influence is unmistakably reflected upon our past and future societies. Similarly, its architecture often reflects the goals, needs and politics around film preservation; whether it is from a technological, political, historical or economical viewpoint.
For this exhibition, I focus on three film archives: ANIM- Arquivo Nacional de lmagem em Movimento in Loures,
The Eye Collection Center in Amsterdam and the Filmarchiv Austria in Laxenburg.
Boudewijn van den Breemer is a photographer whose work specializes in Architectural photography.
He also teaches photography at the University of Applied Photography in Amsterdam.
